A better life for everyone in Sri Lanka—that's our mission. Our donations benefit all children and people in need, regardless of race, religion, or background. Because everyone deserves a better world, right? Thank you for helping us achieve this ultimate goal!

Introduction

With the establishment of the Mission Lanka Foundation (SML) on January 14, 2019, the first step was taken to fulfill the desire to help people in Sri Lanka. This is done by contributing to sustainable peace and development in Sri Lanka.

SML focuses on several key priorities: promoting human rights, children's rights, and education for children, and contributing to the peace process through mediation between parties in disputes, where possible. We also pay direct attention to women's rights and children's rights. Finally, we firmly believe that freedom of conscience, freedom of expression, and freedom of the press are essential and contribute to peaceful and harmonious coexistence for all citizens.

We want to achieve all this through peaceful means, through politics, through Christian networks and through personal passion and love for our compatriots.

Objectives of the foundation

The foundation strives to improve human rights in Sri Lanka, regardless of origin, religion, or other (political) beliefs. The foundation aims to achieve this by bringing about sustainable change from the bottom up, combating poverty, hunger, and injustice, thus offering children and their families a better future.

In collaboration with individuals, companies and organizations, the new generation is provided with the knowledge and opportunities to ultimately provide for their own livelihood and they learn to collaborate with people who think differently.

How does SML intend to achieve this goal?

The foundation aims to achieve its goal by creating lasting connections between individuals, businesses, and organizations in the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. SML aims to share its knowledge and expertise and provide facilities for collaboration. We work in a solution-oriented manner to address requests for assistance from Sri Lanka.

To promote the cause of human rights, peace, development cooperation, and good governance, we use tools such as organizing seminars, offering advice, issuing publications, submitting requests to government, organizing meetings, and offering conflict mediation.

What is the motivation?

The foundation operates from a Christian philosophy and cares for every person, just as Jesus Christ did. The foundation believes in the power of the written word in the Bible, not in the power of weapons. SML aims to achieve its goals without taking political or religious positions. We also do not participate in discussions about these matters.

Result

SML strives to create a harmonious society with a broader social identity.
